During a trip to Italy in her early years, the artist was very impressed by the frescoes by Giotto in Assisi basilic.

More than an aesthetic shock, it was the sensible aspect of fresco that stunned her, and the way the work of human hand could still be felt through centuries.

Fresco process can be compared to the artist's weaving technique, that locks the warp between two layers of weft, like the pigments are captured by the chalk on a wall painting, giving to the colors a floating though vibrant aspect.
